Choosing your wedding cake!!!

The main focus of most wedding receptions is the wedding cake. Not many people leave the reception before the cake is cut, as it is an important tradition. Your wedding cake will feature in a lot of wedding photographs, which you will have to look at for years to come. Thus, you should take some time to choose the perfect wedding cake.

Traditionally, wedding cakes used to be three tiered, and were covered with royal icing. Nowadays, there are hundreds of cakes that you can choose from, which vary in design, look, as well as taste. You can even get a wedding cake customized to your own unique design and have just about any design under the sun.

When you are ready to start looking for the perfect wedding cake, these are the factors that you have to take into consideration in choosing the wedding cake:

Size of the Cake:

The size of the wedding cake will depend on the number of guests that you are expecting. If you are planning to save some cake for guests who could not accept your invitation and will be unable to attend, and are also planning to send your wedding cake to out-of-town invitees, then you should keep this in mind while determining the exact number of people.

Design:

Go through the cake sample pictures from different confectioners and bakers. Looking through wedding magazines is also a good way to find a wedding cake design. If you do not find something that you like, you can always design your own cake.

Flavour:

While it is important that a wedding cake appeal to the visual senses, it is even more important that it taste good. Else you may be left with a whole lot of inedible wedding cake. Choose from the regular vanilla or chocolate, fruitcake or sponge cake, cheesecakes, and even wedding cakes with a mousse filling. If you are tempted by different flavours and can't make up your mind, you can have different tiers in different flavours!

Most bakers require you to place your order at least a couple of months in advance. So don't leave choosing the wedding cake till the last minute, or else you just might have to do without.

NB: From where I come from the most valuable cake is the traditional cake, so with the modern lifestyle most wedding keep both the traditional and modern cakes

Your hairstyle can best determine the hair accessory that will look best. The most common mistake we all make is that we choose our hair accessories before knowing the hair style that we will wear on that day. This sometime may not be a good sign, coz you might buy a hair clip while the style doesn't require a clip but rather a comb or crown.

Baloons Galore

Balloons are an affordable and fun way to decorate for your wedding. We recommend that you choose only three or four balloon ideas for the reception so as not to block anyone’s view during the festivities.
Colors
o White, pink, silver, gold, or clear balloons work great. Clear balloons can hold confetti or other balloons inside of them.
Decorations

o Simple balloon arches are relatively easy to make and create a lot of impact. Directions: Take a strong piece of string and cut it to the length you want your arch to be, plus 2 feet. Then tie a 6 inch piece of string to the bottom of each helium filled balloon. Begin tying the balloons to the long piece of string until you can no longer see the string (leave 1 foot of string at each end for tying onto things).
o Tie a balloon arch to every three rows of pews. You can walk under them as you head toward the altar. No need for pew bows!
o Gather fabric around any can of food and tie with a string. Then tie clusters of eight to ten helium balloons with 6 foot long pieces of string or ribbon to the gathered area. Place one cluster on either side of the cake table or buffet table and at the entrance to the reception area. These clusters can be placed into large potted plants or set at each corner of a dance floor.
Additional Details

o How about a balloon drop during the reception? The nets can be rented.
o You could give the balloons as favors by tying one to the back of each guest chair or wine glass.
o Balloons can be incorporated into a variety of flower arrangements or unique centerpieces. Check with your florist.
o Include a balloon theme on your invitations.

Marrying your baby daddy/mummy

This has just turned to be a common trait all around the world. At least in my country most couples get married after having kids or when they are expecting. And all this time I have been wondering how does this happen and why is it that way? But one of my friends once told me "wanaogopa kuuziwa mbuzi kwenye gunia" meaning they want to confirm that none of them is impotent. I laughed about the matter but at some point I felt it might be true.

But another question pops into my mind isn't marriage meant to be for better and for worse and that inclusive? Anyway it doesn't matter all I want to share with you today is this article I found as I was searching for answers to my so many questions in relation to this topic.

These days more couples are having children before they walk down the aisle. Whether you agree with it or not, it’s still a beautiful thing when they finally take the leap. But there’s some profane feeling that after you have kids marriage is no longer relevant. Somehow the kids become the only priority. However, shouldn't the priority be the relationship? Because without a solid relationship between the couple that is legalized, sound, and court and community approved (aka marriage licensed), anything can happen. A happy mommy and daddy make a happy baby.

5) Research all the financial and legal benefits to being married. In some instances there are tax advantages, and home financing options not as easily available to singles.
