Ways to Wear a Tiara and Veil at the Same Time

After watching Princess Kate wear a stunning tiara and veil combo when she married Prince William in 2011, women all over the world went crazy for this ultra-romantic look. Be warned though, wearing both a tiara and a veil at the same time can be a tricky trend to nail if you don’t know what you’re doing. You need to make sure the veil/tiara combination doesn’t overwhelm the rest of your look. After all, you’ve spent so much time and money selecting your gorgeous wedding dress, you need to let it shine in its own right! You also need to be very careful not to get your fragile veil caught and torn on the tiara… that would be a dreadful wedding day disaster! Here are the ways you can wear a tiara and a veil at the same time on your big day.

Choose The Right Look

Try the tiara and veil on together before you buy them to see how they look. A cut-edge or pencil-edge veil will nicely complement a glittery tiara without making you look over-the-top. Remember: You want to look tasteful not tacky! A plain veil (without rhinestones or lace) will let allow your tiara to shine, and double-tiered finger length veil looks great with a tiara. For the ultimate regal look, pair a cathedral-length single-tiered veil with a simple yet sophisticated tiara.

Choose The Right Material

It is especially important to choose the right material if you want to have a veil over your face as you walk down the aisle and then have it lifted up to say your vows. The right material, such as bridal illusion, which is a tulle material typically made of 100% nylon, won’t snag as it glides over the tiara. Silk tulle may look beautiful, but it is extremely delicate and may tear more easily than other materials.Try and avoid veils made from chiffon and organza as they can be tougher to drape correctly.

Choose The Right Comb

Make sure you fasten the veil at the back of your tiara for an elegant and pulled-together wedding look. A wider comb will meet with the edges of the tiara so the veil can flow freely over the comb and down your back. To make sure both your veil and tiara stay put, secure them with bobby pins. Practice walking around to make sure your veil/tiara combo doesn’t come loose – you’ll most likely be wearing both for the whole day/evening, and the last thing you want is to keep having to fix them back into place.

Make sure you give yourself enough time to try on different types of veils and tiaras so that you’re able to decide which combination works best for you. If pulled off correctly, wearing both a tiara and veil on your big day will have you looking absolutely stunning when you walk down the aisle.
